Amazon EMR Notebooks are now integrated into the EMR Studio Workspaces experience, providing a unified environment for notebook development and big data processing
To create an EMR Notebook, users access the Amazon EMR console and use the “Create Workspace” button in the new interface
Users must provide a Notebook name and can optionally add a description during creation
When creating a new cluster, users specify the cluster name, EMR release version, and required applications like Hadoop, Spark, and Livy
Users can customize EC2 instance types and the number of instances, designating one as the primary node and others as core nodes
Additional cluster settings include selecting EC2 instance profiles, EMR roles, and optionally an EC2 key pair for SSH access
Auto-termination can be enabled for clusters (EMR 5.30.0/6.1.0+), allowing clusters to shut down after a set period of inactivity
